is there a way, with out putting it into another mobo, to see if a processor is still any good? do you think that a small computer store would be able to determine it?

They'd probably put it in another mobo to test it.

There's no real way to tell other than plugging it into a working mobo (that's assuming there are no scorch marks on it ;))

Most small computer shops use something like Prime95 to stress test CPUs. If it can fold for an hour or run Prime95 for a bit, it's okay.

did you kill the thread or did your sig do it on its own?

Take it to a shop, don't admit how bad the mobo damage was, tell them that you are looking to upgrade but it depends on if you can reuse hte CPU.

i blame everything on the sig, that sounds like a plan if i cant get in touch with a guy i know today, he was gonna test it on a mobo he has but i dont know whare he is
