I keep getting an error message saying

"Generic Host Process for Win32 services has encountered a problem and needs to close..blahblah."

Then another window pops up and says, "...This shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM." followed by,
"Windows must now restart because the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service terminated unexpectedly"
it happens every time I start up! Just started happening today.

can anyone tell me what the heck is going on!??!?!

I have been getting this too since yesterday. But it only happens with i have my PC on DMZ host (all ports forwarded). I think we are getting targeted by some exploit or something. There is a hot fix http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/?url=/technet/security/bulletin/MS03-026.asp

I installed it, but havent treid opening my system up, quite frankly i dont want to.

You need a router, because several of us in irc have been experiencing the same problems since yesterday... Karatie kid, me, loki, you, fear.... among others...

Is it on the same network, because you might have a worm called msblast that uses the exploit and spreads itself around networks.

that will tell you how to get rid of it

Guess who was sat at work today twiddling his thumbs because the company got its IT network infected with the Dcom/msblast worm. To put this in perspective thats about 5000 desktop & laptop pcs)

We had no internet, no intranet, no email, and all ms programs were doing weird things like no cut & paste or drag & drop functionality, etc etc.

Oh boy it would have been funny if it wasn't so serious.

What pleasant, easy day, today was, feel sorry for the IT boys though. It was also hilarious telling desktop support what the problem was cos they didn't know themselves at first.
