Like the Control Panel. Only problem I am having is getting FSAA and AF to work correctly in FFXI, but I don't think that is a driver fault, a friend of mine has the same card and 3.8's and his runs fine. Weird.
SimGuy had this to say I don't need to repeat myself more than I already have.
I hope somebody in this forum who knows more about this stuff than me can take a hard look at the Catalyst 3.9 release notes and see if maybe they vindicate those posters who had monitor problems with the 3.8's.
Just a thought. Does this problem affect all cards with Ati radeon chips or just the ones made by Ati. In other words are third party vendorcards like hercules and asus affected by this or do they use different drivers.
pretty insane coincedence if you ask me. But, I guess I'm done with the 3.8 discussion, I have better things to do, like look for a good deal on a new monitor so I can give this one back to the person I'm borrowing it from..
Still i would like an answer to my question. I'm running an ATI card myself and wouldn't mind getting another one but still there's seems to have been a problem for some users. But then again it might just have been a coinsidence with the sun and all.

The 3.9's have apparently fixed the 3.8 monitor problem (I still believe that was the only reason the 3.9's were released). Also, there never was a problem with LCD monitors and any of the drivers.
Please give me input on my experience with the Catalyst 9.8 driver.
My computer is a week old. Vid card is an ATI 9600XT, monitor is a Samsung 173T... It is hooked up via DVI (its an LCD screen)... In windows the refresh rate is set to 60Hz. The only two options that windows considers "legitimate" are 60 and 70Hz.
HOWEVER, when I open counterstrike, even on the main menu window the refresh rate jumps ABOVE 70Hz (something windows wouldnt allow unless i manually overrided the suggested refresh rates)...
I can tell the refresh rate is higher than 70Hz because the monitor menu tells me it is running at 75Hz... Even if you set the refresh rate higher manually the monitor says it is never going higher than 75Hz... This means that the input signal in counterstrike could be anything from 75Hz and higher...
My last experience playing it was a few hours ago. It would play fine for about half an hour, but then the screen would seem to "refresh" for an instant... As the minutes went by the refreshing was more and more frequent until the monitor displayed no more image..
Is this due to the driver? Am i right in thinking that it MUST be an ATI issue that the refresh rate is going higher than windows should allow? Thanks a lot for any help!
First of all, this thread is very old, and it's about 3.8, not 9.8. 9.8 does not exist. The latest catalyst drivers are 4.7 and they can be found at www.ati.com....

That is all.

I think that is the real question.
