SATA to PATA

I'm looking at getting two SATA drives from Western Digital. I have an existing PATA RAID controlloer Highpoint RocketRaid 404. I was wondering if there is an adapter that I could use with this setup if it is possible. I see Highpoint was a Rockethead 100 cnverter. But it looks like it is only for drives that are PATA to a SATA controller.

I could be wrong but AFAIK, there are no adapters that go SATA -> PATA
You'd be better off buying a native SATA controller to take advantage of full speed tranfers.
You could try plugging the current adapters to the controller side but I doubt it'll work backwards.

There are of course, PATA -> SATA adapters like the RH100 which btw is the one I use and it works great, compatible with all drives.

Abit's Serillel1 and 2 adapters have trouble detecting some Maxtors drives, not your problem though...

I agree... Never ever seen a sata to regular ide converter.
Only a blonde wouldl buy one ! Don't start on me either.. I live with two blondes...

The sata to pata converters run ya about 12 to 15 bucks. I mean crap.... For 50 bucks I will trade ya a new serial hpt four channel for your old hpt POS 4 channel if ya want. You will never ever get a better deal. Check out the price and get back with me if your interested. These are expensive SATA controllers! Chance of a lifetime !
