Is there a DDR RAM guide somewhere?

edited August 2003 in Hardware
I'm finally going to upgrade my mobo/CPU/RAM, and am confused as to the ratings of DDR. I see that they come in values like PC2700, but they don't correspond like the old SDRAM names, where something like PC133 meant it was rated for a 133mHz buss. Yet I see the DDR mobos have buss ratings that don't match to any of the DDR RAM names.

Is there any guide that can clear up the confusion for me, and make sure I don't waste my money getting the wrong RAM? Thanx.

If you know which MOBO your going to get, then try Crucial.com. They can show which mem chips work with which mobo. Then if ya want , you can shop around

Thrax had a article typed up that had the info you are looking at. I also had a little word file with it all explained but I cant find it right now, I'll see if I can dig it up somewhere.

    Edit:

ok here is a little explanation

    PC1600 fsb=100
    PC2100 fsb=133
    PC2400 fsb=150
    PC2700 fsb=166
    PC3000 fsb=187
    PC3200 fsb=200
    PC3500 fsb=219
    PC3700 fsb=231

that is to the best of my knowledge

Not to be a nit picker, but PC3500 RAM normally runs 216, not 219. PC3700 Normally runs 232-234.

    PC4000 runs 250 (DDR500)
    PC4200 runs 266
(I haven't seen 4200 yet, but I've heard of it)
