I think I'm going to wait awhile and see if there are any problems with it first.

Let us know how it goes, csimon.

will do ...I will test this one on my p4/2.53/533 overnight and I will test another on my XP2000/266 tonight :fold:
hehe ...does this make me the master-beta?

thanks buies will do ...and that's mr. master-beta to all of you!
    mwahahaha

/edit: oops ...I noticed the "Extra 3DNow boost OK." on the AMD so I went and changed the flags from -forceasm to the new -forcesse (mine is in registry) and it didn't work so I tried again and changed it to case sensitive -forceSSE and presto ...we now have SSE

    [03:36:39] Writing local files
    [03:36:39] Completed 35000 out of 500000 steps (7)
    [03:36:39] Extra SSE boost OK.

ps: also ...have not lost any work yet. :fold:

A few days ago it was only available to the Community Mods. I have it but never switch over. I guess I can do that tomorrow.

Oo, oo.. Biggest improvement to me atleast...

    - Maximum machine IDs raised to 8.

Great for all my Xeon systems w/HT. :D

With Intel chips, using the forceasm or forceSSE enable SSE optimizations.
But for AMD chips, what yields better performance? Forcing 3DNow or SSE optimizations?

    SSE

Is anybody having any issues with the new client???

    "Not I" said the master-beta.
I'm running -advmethods -forceSSE on my AMD
...and only -advmethods on my p4 and xeons.

I get "Extra SSE boost OK" on all of the above now.

Extra SSE boost here as well with advmethods and forcesse. Just set it up. I will go see what the community is talking about after work.

I set the whole lab over to the beta prerelease1 friday to experiment this weekend ...so far everything is normal to better ...actually I think I may be turning out more work but it's still premature to tell.

I just want to know how do I get two instances running at once on my machine?
  • csimoncsimon Acadiana Icrontian
    edited November 2003
ok ...first tell me how you set up the first instance.
what folder is it located ...is it running as a service ...is it console or graphic etc?
  • edited November 2003
It's the graphical client and it's in a folder in my documernts and I have it in the start up folder in programs in the start menu.
    It's the new beta btw.
  • csimoncsimon Acadiana Icrontian
    edited November 2003
ok ...well then you need the console for the second instance ...just be sure to set it up as machineID=2 ...you can use the new beta console if you want.
oh yeah ...and don't install it in the same folder as the gui version
  • edited November 2003
I just set up a second instance of the graphic version (in another folder) in another user profile and set it running...bummer.
  • edited November 2003
Could I not just go into the .cfg file for F@H and change the machine id in there to 2 for a graphical client?
  • csimoncsimon Acadiana Icrontian
    edited November 2003
well ...idunno about the new betas but on the older clients you could only have one gui and the rest had to be consoles.
  • mmonninmmonnin Centreville, VA
    edited November 2003
Second client must be a console as far as I know. Like it or not, its the way it has to be.

Hmm, I have never tried maually editing the config.cfg file in the GUI to make it a second machineID.

Try it and tell us your results.

ive got a duron...how would i force 3d now on that bad boy? (800mhz)
  • edited November 2003
Right now I'm running the console as the second client although after it's done with the latest wu I'll configure the graphic client on my other user profile to machine ID2 and give it a whirl and see what happens.
