i was looking at fatwallet.com, and i found a link a reliable place selling dvd drives for cheap. heres the link:

as i was looking at it, i read up a bit on that optorite drive (made by sanyo) and the HD-burn technology. it allows you to put 1.4 gigs on a regular CD-R or something. and its patented by them and the drive is super cheap. anyway, here is a page about the optorite:

http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Articles/Specific.asp?ArticleHeadline=Optorite+DD0203+DVD%B1RW&Series=0

now to the question, does anyone have any knowledge either about the company, drive, or HD-Burn Technology? cuz i might have to get one of those drives if they are really that good . . .

After you put 1.4 gigs on a CD-R, can it be read by any drive (like Lite-on, etc.) or only another Optorite drive?

    Thanks,
    S!

from what i read, sanyo is trying to get it accepted. they have the ability, but there is a firmware upgrade that the various companies need to release. at least, thats how i understand it. anyway, i ordered one, 148 shipped. good deal, right there . . .
