    why dont you just use Easy DIVX?
    Thats what i use for my "backups" and have no problem at all

    Easy Divx was a flop, tried it twice with different settings and got a sped-up image with no sound... back to the old way...

    yeah, my experiences with "one program wonders" for divx or svcd tend to pretty much be teh suck. i also have heard that you can screw up your dvd drive pretty bad, cuz it has the laser continually running for a longer period of time. not to mention, that the article right here on ICF is top notch!!!

    Well, it seems that certain files were missing from the guide (like mpeg2dec.dll and dcomb.dll, which is only available in dcomb500.dll on the net and this isn't compatible with Gordian Knot...). The problems, after 30 minutes, of following the guide sent me running back to making VCDs/SVCDs with Smart ripper, DVD2AVI, and TMPGEnc. At least that works.
