This was not too bad, actually. Torrented sweet, burned sweet, installed sweet. One thing it does not like is CS jumpered WDs if another HD is jumpered Slave and not CS also, ditto those jumpered Single for the more modern models iof you have another HD in, and even if NOT do not Single jumper these WD Caviars for Mandy-- ti likes that NOT AT ALL. BEST if forced master for master, forced slave for slave.

However, one thing for the noteboook-- IF updating KDE in KDE in Mandrake 9.2, and you lose your KDE menu, you have NOT lost your apps, just your menu entries. So, run MenuDrake and get the menu back by saving in that. Works sweet. Download Edition also available for those who want it, should be on mirros if not there already. KDE 3.1.3, Gnome 2.4, Kernel 2.4.22-10 stock, version of kernel 2.6 to test version lavalable at ISO create time handy if one wants to test (not on this box for me).

Note that it is legal to torrent from publisher-sponsored net a publisher-supplied ISO set. I do not use anything illegal in US in the US.

I run Mandrake 9.1 on my dual boot XP/linux machine. I will not be updating to 9.2.

I was very dissapointed to hear that mandrake had not tested thier software properly and was destroying CD-ROM drives.

Mandrake is a great distro to learn on, and whether this was the hardware manufacturers fault, or the softwares fault, I was still unhappy to discover their improper testing of the product.

Good thing for those who like to download and play with Linux. But the download size... What is it, 3-4GB?

It takes me as much as 2 days depending on the speed of BT, but in general, I can download 4.4GB of data in one day using my full bandwidth
