I have a linksys router and i was wondering how i can set up the network so that my comps on the network dont keep changing the that 3 digits on the network. right now im xxx.xxx.x.100, last time it was 102. I there a way to keep it from changing?

Yes, set the address range on the router from 101-150 (or something close to that)...

Then manually configure windows' ip address, gateway, and submask.

Hmm... DHCP should be requesting the last IP address that it had. Maybe the router just isn't doing it.

But the fail-safe way is to configure your IP address manually. Just copy down what ipconfig (or ipconfig /all) has set currently, because you can't set only the IP address manually (you'll have to enter subnet, gateway, and DNS servers as well). Once you've entered all that it should work just fine.

Your linksys should be assigning ips in the range off xxx.xxx.xxx.100 to 150 already, and it assigns based on which machine requests first. IE, first machine to request will recieve .100, second 101, and so forth. check to make sure your Client Lease time is set to "0" which will give each macnine a one day lease on its predefined IP address. Alternately you can do as stoopid recommends and just set your ip's statically.

    IP range 192.168.1.100 - .150
    Gateway 192.168.1.1
    Subnet 255.255.255.0

Don't take this the wrong way but go to Linksys and RTFM.
