Intel PC will not post

edited September 2003 in Hardware
Hey,

Currently running 2.4ghz Intel and Intel mobo, dual channel memory runnng XP Home. After momentary black out, computer would not boot. Computer is protected by surge however. System does not beep or give off ANY post codes. When I try to boot, I get a "Signal not found" from the monitor like nothing is hooked up to it. I have tried running the two 512 sticks of RAM indivually, have tried different video card, and still cannot get any post. Connected different power supply as well with no affect. CPU fan runs, hard drive runs, and green light shows on Intel motherboard. Do I have a bad processor or mobo or maybe even something else? Suggestions?

Thanks,
Chris

its odd that this happened to you after a blackout when connected through a surge, leaves me kind of confused. i dont suppose theres any way you can test the CPU out in another board.

if that fails, try clearing the CMOS, unplugging your PSU for say 15 seconds and plugging it back in, see if that helps at all.

someone else may give a more detailed answer

-- On a side note, if your board was plugged in at ALL, such as through a Cat-5 cable to your network, or a phone line, theres a possibility that was the avenue through which something fried. if that is the case, i'd think all signs point to your mobo
