i've had some similar problems with partition magic creating screwed up secondary partitions, but i have yet to impair my os partition.

can you elaborate on what you mean when you say "adjusted 2 hard drives ... to get the letters in order"?

There should be a small utility in PM that allows you to specify what the old drive letter was, and what you changed it too. This will then make all the changes for you. Look into the PM folder, it should be there.

And only PM8 was ever really XP compatible. I use a utility called registry crawler to make sweeping changes thru the registry and change all occurances of a drive letter to another. Like changing "D:\program files" to "c:\program files" etc.....

You have tweked the drive letters and also changed the install path for the drivers that are now looking for where a cdrom or drive used to be to another drive. So carefully scan for ALL disk letters making the needed changes not just the couple you think changed on the hard disk. Its the reshuffling of the cdrom and install paths that also are jerking your chain.

I have managed some amzing tweaks using registry crawler but be careful!
