I need help with my Burner PLEASE!!

edited September 2003 in Hardware
Ok I'll start from the begining.. I used to have a Lite-on 24X cd-r burner that I think went bad. I would burn a disc and it would only write the Index that you could visualy see on the disc, but play on the computer. I took the drive out and put it in my pc at work and it didnt even show up in the bios, It wasnt detected. So I assumed that the drive was bad. I have a sumsung 24x burner in the work pc that works great. So I went out and purchased a 52-32-52X burner to replace the bad one. I hooked it up this morning, and tried to burn again. I mainly burn MP3 to play in my car. I tried three different brands of disc. and same thing. When I look at the disc on my explorer after it gets done burning, It looks like it would play, but nothing out of any other player that isnt my computer. I can't see the burn in the disc either like the ones I have done before. I mainly use EZCD5 with the newest updates and never had a problem before. I also have Nero and it didn't work either. I am soo lost.. I have a 1600xp with the a7v-266e 512 memory 40 gig wd liteon dvd rom and liteon 52-32-52x burner enermax 431 ps gf2ti Video. I have always used TDK cd's and loved them because I felt they were more durable against scratches.
If anyone has a suggestion to why I can burn let me know thanks a bunch..

Corey

If you are burning them as MP3s you need an MP3 player to play them. If they are being played on a normal CD player they need to be converted to WAV files. Most software will do this automatically if you write your CDs as "Music CDs".

OK. I'm not a guru on CD Burning. I don't understand then why you can play the CD on the computer and not in the car then.

As far as the BIOS not seeing the drive, don't forget to set the Master/Slave jumper correctly. Also EzCD Creater does not play well with other burning software on the computer and has been know to make drives disappear in Windows. I would suggest that you remove Both pieces of software and reinstall the one you wish to use.

Have you tried uninstalling your burn software and deleteing all instances from the regestry then reinstalling? I think that should do it.
