Which heatsink for XP2800?

Can anyone recommend a good H/S for the AMD XP2800 'Barton' CPU? I am considering Coolermaster Aero 7 as I read its quite good and low noise.

Also, on mobo: The ABit NF7-S or the Asus A7N8X Deluxe?

All suggestions appreciated.

ABit NF7-S is the ultimate overclocker, you will see alot of our members have them.

as for heatsink, any thermalright heatsink with a low cfm 80mm will do and you will get great temps.

    Thanks Citrix.
When you say any Thermalright do you mean the SLK9series? How low a CFM fan should I go for? Why not a 90mm fan? Which direction should the fan blow when attached to H/S?

fan always blows down on those thermalright heatsinks,

SLK900's are awesome , but if u dont want to go too extreme, the SK6 or 7's are awesome! and cheap.

but i think those might require 60mm-80mm fans.

I would say to get which ever SLK fits your budget. I'm running the SLK-800 and overclocked my 2500+ 500mhz... If the SLK-900 fits you budget, deffently get it! You will be pleased.

As for fans, I would recommend the Tt Smart Case Fan II. It can do up to 4800rmp, and down to 1300rpms with the speed adjuster.

You know, i bought an Aero 7 a few months back, and i was very pleased with it at the time. I have always had problems with battling temps of my cpu for some reason, but the Aero 7 did a great job of cooling it and it is quiet like you said. Unfortunately though, the one i had died on me within a month of purchasing it, while i was out for the entire day i might add, so needless to say i didn't have it replaced for a new one. I just got a refund for it and bought a different H/S and fan altogether.

Abit NF7-S is the best way to go. Just take your time installing and setting it up and will avoid the problems that plague most of the people complaing about this mobo. They are like a Ferarri, you can't get one and expect to drive it like a Camaro.

The Sk-7 and SLK-800 are pretty close but if you are on a tight budget I wouldn't loose any sleep if I got the SK-7 and both use 80mm fans. The SLK-900 (make sure you get the "U" model that bolts through the motherboard as this one is very heavy) takes up to a 92mm fan and does work the best. But it is a tight fit and due to it's weight and my recomendation on the moedl it is a pain to get to the CPU once mounted. I recomend a fan with at least 50CFM of air flow and one of the ThermalTake SmartFan II (adjustable) are outstanding as you can crank it up when needed and turn it down when you back off if overclocking or not doing CPY intensive work.

I am using a Thermalright AX-7 on my 2800+. I have an 80mm Panaflo low flow fan on it and my temps are 39-40C idle and 44-46 under load. For only about $20 it is a great HS to use with very quiet fans.

I have an ABIT NF7-S, xp2500 with a SK7 and TT Smartfan II.

I was too cheap to buy the SLK800 or SLK900 series. :D

An SK-7 will cool much better than an AX-7 and they are about the same price.
