FINIALLY after almost 2 months, I'm getting my $$ returned from major chain store for bum printer. Gonna buy new photo printer within 2 weeks and want to know. I have a boatload of Kodak photo paper. Will this paper give good results with either a Cannon or HP printer?

Can't answer your question about the Kodak paper, but prolly so if it's like 'standard'. I also don't reccomend getting an HP... from my experience, all HP [deskjet] printers I've worked with broke down after a year :(

My HP Photosmart 7550 is very alive and well after over a year and it works well with Kodak paper. I recomend running a test sheet to deterime what adjustments you need to make to your pictures for printing, which is really quite simple. They must have figured people would be using diffefent papers as they have a list to choose from and it does compensate but I like to fine tune and found that I need to darken them a little (this is in the photo print properties when printing) when using Kodak paper in my printer.

well as long as the topic of printers lasting came up... i still have my Cannon BJC 210 printer from 1996 which i got for free from a store deal (retailed around 100-150). it has worked faithfully since then. sure its had its wierd phases but nothing that couldnt be fixed in a few minutesof tinkering. it didnt print masterpieces, tough, and after a couple of years i stopped buying color cartridges for it (poor thing only had room for either color or monochrom, one at a time). basically all i did was print text... but my point is, that thing lasted. and its only ganna get dethroned by a new hp 5550 or something like that soon because i got it for a gift and actually havnt even touched the box for 3 months yet.

but on the subject... i have no experience with photo printing (or most color printing for that matter, as you can see from my above description of my primary printer). both cannon and hp make great printers. but as far as using kodac paper on either of the two, try reading about the printers in question and see if maybe they list the kodak paper you have as something they support. check their websites or maybe a local store... also trying kodac website for possible list of compatable printers for their paper.

    BruceY,
I have a couple of buds that swear buy the Kodak paper and the HP photoprinters that they have. I've seen the pics, sweet!!

I am sure that paper is universal to all printers.

Yes.... the kodak paper will work fine in either.... so will HP branded photopaper in an EPSON *gasp*... in fact I bet you more than one company (ie Epson, HP, Canon, Etc) uses the same paper manufacturer..... anyways quite worrying anout the paper, and HP's are fine, I've seen plenty of epsons and cannons die but I see fewer HP's break + their Tech support rocks!
