I have one of the original K7S5A boards on the brown pcb and it never would hold its settings. I changed the battery several times and that didn't do any good. I remeber hearing something about this as there was a bad bunch or something. But what I need to know, is if anyone recalls exactly what the problem was. was it just bad EPROM's or something else. I need to do something with this one as I would like to put it in service if I can or scavenge it for parts that I need for other uses.

i've got a k7s5a as well, and i've had that problem every now and then but it was a really rare occurance. i can tell you that it occured only before i put a new, more powerfull power supply in. There is an error in the board that causes it to need like 350 watts. dont ask me why, thats just what tex told me a long time ago.

    Thanks for the reply!

First was in my wifes machine prior to getting a new board. It had a 400W Antec original PSU.

I have built 19 on the old non-Pro board and this was the first that I had any problems with. And I have used a variety of PSU's from 300 to 500 watts of both known and unknown quality.

I recently found the answer to this question and it turns out that there were some devective boards with a variety of problems.
