have a small network, 3pcs, 2 running Win98, 1 running W2KPro and a server running NT Server 4.
I want to use the W2K pc as an internet connection and using ICS hare that connection with the 2 Win98 pcs.
The NT server was using DCHP, but I turned it off.
The W2K pc gas the IP of 192.168.0.1 which is correct. The Win98 pcs, when set to IP auto, come on the network as IP169.xxx.xxx.xxx. Other times the Win98 pc find the correct IP addy of 192.068.0.xxx.
This is driving me crazy as well as costing me time and money.
Any ideas on how to slove this problem?
Also, when I set the IPs to 192.168.0.xxx it will not connect.
Thanks,
Dave

You need to set the IP's of the other machines manually (like you tried) and set the default gateway to the IP address of the ICS machine.

You also need to set the Primary DNS server to whatever the ICS machines IP is, or alternatively your ISPs DNS servers addresses if you know them.

Windows 98 doesnt support ICS, 98SE does though, which version are you using?

Regardless of whether 98 or 98se is running, the w2k machine is doing the ICS.

As nightshade said, manually configure the other three boxes and you'll be good2go.
