DELL APPEARS to be charging through the nose for the Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition – or it will be when it starts shipping the boxes that use it.

A reader notices that if you use the Dell online site to configure two PCs identically, one with a 3.20GHz Pentium 4 and the other with a 3.2GHz Pentium 4 EE, the one with the newer chip costs a staggering $1,400 more.

By going to dell I realized that when you select the 3.2EE it also bundles a 240G Raid 0, 8xDVD-rw, 2GB Dual Channel DDR, Radeon 9800 XT 256, and an Audigy 2.

No joke. I prefer elegance in simplicity for all of my stuff. For instance, some people like cases with bells 'n' whistles and lights and stuff. My idea of a case mod is taking my black chieftec, dissolving the paint off, and putting on a featureless layer so black that you feel like you're falling into it just looking at it. A little light in the right spot, and the effect will be purrrfect.

I haven't done my Chieftec yet, but I practiced on a 5.25" drive (black bezel goes great in my pee4).
