How to oc this thing?

Hey

I recently aquired a Hp Pavilion 7917 with a 1.1gig Celeron in it. still has the factory board but i've upgraded the bios to the latest version (from HP's website b/c it was the only place i could find info on the darn board) i've tried everyway to my knowledge to overclock this thing from the Bios and nothing will allow me to! are the Celeron chips locked? i really wanna O/C this thing because its kinda sluggish even for a celeron. has 256 PC133 ram (will be getting 512) Windows XP Pro, 40GB Maxtor (5400rpm) master drive and 20GB 7200rpm slave (i'm going to switch them around and run windows from the faster drive). It also has a Hurcules 3D Prophet 4000XT Kyro series video card in it (PCI 32mb card b/c there is no AGP slot in this machine)

I think for what this machine is, it runs too slow, it can't run GTA3 worth crap but can play GTA Vice city fairly good. another game i've had problems with are "Street Legal". i plan on getting some better cooling fans (for the CPU and Vid card) so i plan to OC them as much as possible.

any tips on getting this thing to OC would be GREAT!

Justin

On a HP you are just out of luck. They make them to run stable for kids, grandmas and home office folks who have no interest in overclocking. So they purposely make it so you can'r screw with it. Sorry for the bad news. :(

Depends a lot on the HP case. Sometimes they use mini boards in the cases, sometimes they do something to only allow their boards to work with other components. Yes, it's possible, but having never done it I couldn't make a specific suggestion.
