I have a Abit KT7A-Raid motherboard (v1.3)
What is the best gaming video card I can get?
I think the motherboard supports agp 4X. Is 8X backwards compatible? Any video cards not compatable do to via chipset?

Most if not all gaming 8x video cards are backwards compatible. You won't have a problem choosing any. Now I don't know about the compatibility with older chipsets.
You can buy any new video card and slap it in there. Right now I'm running a 8x vdeo card in a 4x agp motherboard and have 0 problems. As far as I know there arent any games out that are agp8x at this time. (Correct me if I'm wrong.)
I would Recomend a 9700pro as they are still kick but and can be had for $250.00 with some looking. If your budgets lower a 9600pro for $150.00. The Nvidia Ti's can be found at bargen prices but they are dated. Stay away from 8500's- 9200's etc from ati. Big waste of cash there. Also the nvidia's 5200's are a big waste of money. My friend bought one and cant even play 2k3 at a desent FPS.
It may be just me but the Highend nvidia video cards are confuseing in performance and I just dont know if they are worth the cash compared to ATI's offereing.

I have a 9500pro which beats up on 9600's.
Hope that helps.
