office XP "locked for edit"
lo everyone, can anyone tell me what this annoying problem means?
i install office XP and it runs fine... then every once in a while i try and type into either excel or word and at the bottom of the screen it says "command not available because the document is locked for edit".
This isnt to do with the cell protection in Excel..
The task bars in office are all blacked out too so i cant click any of them

/me scratches head and looks around
ive no idea what it can be, maybe its somethin to do with the 30 day trial thing? registers fine tho... hmmmmzz
i will look around for an answer
I had this happen to me, and it turned out to be a problem with the microsoft activation wizard. Apparently, if you don't complete the evil thing, eventually all the microsoft programs don't let you do anything, all you get is the "document locked for edit" error message.
Worked for me anyway.
got it sorted now tho....
i think office has a 60 day trial timer on it by default or somethin like that until you register it
