I've used Netgear, Linksys, and Dlink routers. All of them are comparable (never a day of trouble).

    im confuzzled....

There are ADSL routers out to buy and also ADSL modem/routers.

IF I get just a router , will i need an ADSL modem to plug into the router?
Or should I just buy a modem/router in one?

:) aDSL modem and aDSL router

both might have one RJ45 port so what the hell is difference?

    "
" the cable connecting this stuff

This is the path the data travels

aDSL modem : the modem part
computer or router (with all those 4 ports )

aDSL router : the modem part then to the router part ( which is NAT which is also the "firewall")
    to :

    1) computer or ( computers if the aDSL router have a like 5 ports where it acts like a switch or hub )
    2) a router
to computers (if you set the aDSL router to bridge mode which means ur asking the aDSL router to act as a modem )

Read that a couple of times and if still cant get it.. try again.

    Examples :

    1) aDSL modem
    a computer

    2) aDSL modem
a switch or hub with 4 ports
    computer(s) ( no protection )

    3) aDSL modem
a router (which doesnt have a normal phone jack ) with NAT and 4 ports
    computer(s)

    4) aDSL router
    switch with 4 ports
    computers

    5) aDSL router (bridge mode)
router with 4 ports and NAT
    computers

aDSL router in bridge mode = aDSL modem
aDSL router in non-bridge mode = aDSL modem with a router built in either with 4 ports or without 4 ports

Cisco network run the internet. If you want the best you get a cisco. Other then that I would say linksys routers but i had one and a few complant about then going bad or degradeing about abuse in use such as 8TB of data passing thur then over 8 or so month but for 50 buck or less their still the best that why cisco bought them out i allso heat talks that cisco planing to buy d-link
