Hi i'm new to overclocking and this forum. I have recently got a new athlon 2500+ after reading so much about it being great for overclocking.

I've read some reviews that people have put their fsb up to 200mhz without any other mods and it boots up as 3200+, but I can't seem to get mine to run above above 179mhz fsb on my asrock k7s8x mobo, which don't give you all the overclocking options as most, but you can adjust the fsb in 1mhz increments.

Does anyone know why I cant run it over 179fsb?

what type of RAM do you have? you'd need really good pc2700 to hit 200 FSB, more likely you're looking at getting pc3200 to do 200 FSB.

My guess is that you'll need to increase the vdimm (RAM voltage) in order to get more mhz from the bus.

I have 512mb pc3200 ram, I was thinking maybe they make the new cpu's locked now or something. I hope not
