Getting ready to reprogram my pc. i have some older programs (games) that run under win95 (maybe 98). I want to setup with multi boot option of DOS 6.22, Win95, and default to my Win2K Pro. I have setup dual systems but wonder IF possible for all 3 os? Which order? On second thought, Win95 if I recall needs Dos, so If I have a program that only works in dos, can I get to dos from win95?

ok first good lord man what are you thinking.

Second ditch trying to put all 3 on just use win98 and 2k if you must. Personally I'd go with just 2k or XP. You should be able to access any of your dos crap through win98 using win98's boot to dos feature.

Also if you have software that is only running in dos (I shudder to think about it)....It maybe time to give up or get newer versions of that stuff.

Probably a better option would be set up one machine as 2k only and get some shitbox pc to run dos/win95/98 if you must. To save costs just get the box and use a KVM swtich to share monitor/mouse/keyboard.

Be very careful! DOS has a way of ignoring your commands and doing what it wishes, such as ruining partitions on other drives, etc.. Kryyst's suggestion of setting up a shitbox hits very near to the mark.

    Here's one more suggestion:
    1. Buy a shitty old hard drive ($20).
    2. Disconnect your other hard drives and install DOS onto the new hard drive.
    3. Connect your other hard drives back up.
    4. If you feel the need to boot DOS, make a quick run to BIOS and set that hard drive to boot first, otherwise chose the other drive to boot first.

That's the idiots way to set up a dual boot, but may very well be the safest, considering the age of the OSs you're looking to play with.

If I recall.................win95 needed DOS to run. I got an old pent133 machine out of mouth balls that runs with win98. I installed a few of the games/sims to see if any bugs with 98. The specs on the programs call for Win95. 2 out of 3 had quirks so I'm gonna go with 95 and my 2K. It just seems like a waist to throw out my fav flight sim and "The Beast Within". And besides, I cant get my bimmer parts program to work on anything other than 95................settled............thank you for the help

RBanfield reminded me of another option that I had forgetten about. They have a device for which I can't remember the name but any good computer store worth it's name should be able to ge them.

You put the drive in your computer and then it's a switch that you can just toggle to set how the drives work. So you can say turn one drive off and leave another on or switch master/slave on the fly all kinds of kewl shit. Plus it's just a switch so you don't have to go into the bios everytime and it allows for some other things you can't do with a simple bios switch.

You could then pull the drive out of your 133 put it in your good machine and just controll it with the switch easie peasey and best of both worlds.
