On startup the Svchost error appears as desktop loads three times, it only is an annoyance and possibly related to my internet connection lost problem.

The exact message:

Svchost [X]
(X) This program has performed an illegal operation [Close]
and will be shut down.

If the problem persists, contact the program

Formatting and installing a real OS instead of a legacy OS that's obsolete and over 5 years old may help.

Depends on the system he is running.

You do seem to be having a few problems though, reinstall time methinks.

Svchost is just a caller for other services and not necessarily related to the internet. It could be that you have or had a virus that is causing problems as many of them will use svchost as their service handler. You can have multiple instances of svchost running at a time.

Well I am keeping it because I like it and I need Yuri's Revenge to work, so I may never give it up, and any way it is dual booting with windows xp as well since I like that more than windows 98 but in different ways.

Partly cause to W32.Jeefo virus which spread rapidly over hundreds of files or more, reformat, it now works.
