PC freezes after bootup

edited December 2003 in Hardware
Don't know why. Boots up just fine, no error messages. About 10-15 seconds after bootup, it freezes. No error messages. Mouse wont move, ctrl-alt-del does nothing.

So far I've cleared the cmos, nothing happened. Managed to run ad-aware in safe mode and close all startup programs through msconfig. Nothing happened.

Not a month ago, I installed a Sound Plaster Audigy, but it's been running fine since then.

Any ideas? Win XP Pro, AMD 2500, Soyo mobo, 512 RAM, WD 80gb HDD.

Have you tried using system restore? It comes in handy in situations like these if some software inexplicably changes.

Since you can run safe mode it's prolly some driver that's causing an issue... have you also tried removing the audigy even tho it's been running fine?
