I have some video that i took on my camera a week long dive trip. I can get to play on my PC but not in my DVD player. I am not one of the lucky ones w/ a DVD burner though, all i got is the old CDR/RW burner. I figure this is a format prob, and my MVI is not a common format for DVD players to play, but my new DVD player plays DVD, MP3, JPEG, and WMA. So how do i make my videos in to a compatable format? I use Roxio EZ5 Platinum to burn.

I have a son being born in 3 months and dont want to waste a lot of non playable video....

First NTSC is the way to go for North America, PAL is the European market.

What kind of camera do you have. I'll assume it's digital or is it one that burns straight onto a DVD.

If it's burning straight to mini-DVD or CD and it won't play on your DVD player then it simply won't play. You'll need to copy it to your computer and convert it to a regular DVD format and burn it back to DVD or CD-R.

Either way your DVD player is playing the following Standard DVD's and the MP3 and WMA are a type of music format JPEG is still pictures.

As for your exact solution hard to say as there are a lot of varriables....but never fear go to this site and read, Read, READ!!!!

Well that is the first place i turned and got real real real lost....lol

Couldnt post there to ask some questions, but plan on it today! (they make u wait 24 hrs)

Camera im using is a Canon A60

Its putting stuff out in AVI and i am reading on how to conver but it seems that i am going to have to pay for programs to do this and if that is the case i may as well buy a DVDR/RW seems to me.

What do you think or does anyone have any suggestions?

AVI to VCD can be done using the program TMPGEnc which is a free download. Then burn with Nero or whatever you use.

If you have the codecs to watch a video, NERO can use it to make a VCD.

Well after reading the help over at DVDhelper.com, I figured the problem was.

The key is that i had the software the whole time. Roxio's EZCD Plat 5 has what is called Video Impressions that works it all out...it converts and burns.

    Thx all for your help
