Can't get Disk Defrag to work...

When I try it in the sys32 folder, it says

"MMC cannot open..."

It goes on to say that it may be because I don't have access rights to my computer. I am the administrator, and lately I have been having to click to log in when I restart my computer. How can I get it so I don't have to do anything, it just goes right on to the desktop?

Funny, I was having the same issue on a friend's XP Pro installation. I'd have to shift-rightclick, run as, and login as the admin account to install and run certain applications. Problem is, HIS account IS the admin account! :p

Turning off the auto login is easy, it's in the user accounts section where it asks you 'how the account should behave'... turn off user switching I believe it is, can't remember for the life of me and I'm on my w2k workstation at work atm. The problem with the admin thingie I didn't spend more than 5 minutes on and gave up. That particular friend is not PC savvy enough to do any installation on his own. Hell, he hasn't run windows update in quite some time, I had to do that as well for him.

If I find something out today in my searching I'll let you know...

I am still having the problem, the "run as" thing didn't work. I tried logging in with my password and everything, yet it kept on giving me those dumb prompts!!

    Maybe it's a virus...?

Could be a virus, maybe even just adware/spyware. I haven't been back to my friend's place to work on this cause, frankly, it probably would end in me just reinstalling windows (his install's over a year old anyway). Problem is -- I'm not all that interested in volunteering those hours of my life just for him to do the same thing again that caused the original issue (catch 22).
