    When:

    A) swapping mobos
    B)Building a new pc
    C) installing a new/used harddrive

It's suggested to format and reinstall windows.

    Hi, there.

I suggest you Load Safe Default at BIOS and see if it still behaves that way.

If you just pulled on old HDD and put it into an entirely new set up. There is a very good chance your only sollution is a re-install of XP.

However you could try a safe-boot and see if that works then you'd have to re-load in the mobo drives and all your other drivers.

Best sollution is to re-install XP.

    ditto on the reinstall...

If you have another HDD, either start fresh with that or save all your S#!% to the second and start over that way.

Your system will run much smmmooother that way.:D

Umm yah any new hardware kills it... also pirated copies of XP are notoriously hard to install unless you get a CD that actually works for it! Ohh and if you have the money and can afford XP buy it... the whole activation thing sucks when you install new hardware and the activation thing kicks in and it's pirated.. your basically screwed to the point of format and reinstall......
