Firmwarehacking a raid controller HPT 370?

edited February 2004 in Hardware
Hi Guys!

I am just about to buy two new Maxtor disks with udma 133 and 8mb cache. I wondered, if there is a "patch" of the firmware for the Highpoint Raid Controller HPT 370/372 for the Abit KT7A Raid which enables UDMA 133?

For any clues or guesses/webpage addresses I would be very thankful!

    http://www.highpoint-tech.com/drivers.htm

That page has the newest drivers and firmware updates for the HPT370 controller. I don't think there's a way to enable ATA-133 on the 370, but I do know all new drives are backwards compatibile to ATA-100. In fact I've got an 250gig ATA-133 Maxtor drive running right now on an onboard firmware-updated HPT370 controller (KT7-RAID) with no problems.

Sorry to say that the Highpoint 370 does not support the UDMA 133 mode due to chip limitations so there is no patch to make that available.

You will be able to run your Maxtor's on that contoller but you won't get the extra bandwidth from them.
