Temp probe placement ?

I will be doing some cooling mods today and need some help. Along with my new SLK heatsink I also bought the Aerogate 2 fan control and monitor. The question is about the the probes. The instructions that came with it are about worthless. I have included a photo of the probe over an amd cpu ( for referance ). I will be using this with a P4 CPU. The very tip of the probe is where the thermistor is. It is .015" thick at the tip and about .010" everywhere else. Where should I put it?

    Trim the film back to as close to the actual probe as possible and affix it under the sink on the side of the heatspreader using a thin strip of thermal tape (the double sided type) just dont expose the "bead" when you trim the covering and also don't crush it by accident.
    You don't want to place it between the sink and the heat speader, it'll crush the "bead" type diode and render it useless.
