I heard its possible to softmod a 9800se to a pro..now how exatly do u soft mod a videokard?

    Softmodding is flashing it's bios. You'll have to look at what memory is has ie: samung, Infineon , and the speed of the ram ie: 5ns,3.2ns.

    Be advised flashing the bios to a video card is tricky. A number of things can go wrong and you will kill the card instantly. There's no turning back once there's a bad flash on the video card like a mobo.

    You can't just switch out the bios chips. And it's irreversable once it's done.

    i just completed my softmod...it di not require a bios flash.

    So what kind of results did you get, and which brand 9800se did you use?

    Have you experienced any on screen artifacts since modding it or not?

    Nevermind, i just ordered a real 9800 pro to save myself the worry of messing it up.:D

    sorry i didnt realize i got more replies...my benchmarks in 3dmark 2001 and 2003 went up a bit...so i would consider it a success.................Ya and i would like a real 9800 pro too because of the higher mem speeds and clcok speed

    thanks...its a shame the mem speed on this card is only 249 and doesnt oc very well but the gpu overclocks to just over 400

    Hmmm, i can't get my 9800 pro over 398 without artifacts :(

    its just one of those things some gpus overclock wee some not so well .maybe a volt mod will help
