I have the C drive of my main rig mapped on my laptop, but when im not within range of my access point, I get the 'Could not connect network drive' bubble by the taskbar (XP Pro). I remember seeing a link to a MS patch that stops it from telling me this, as its annoying me! I know I cant access my C drive when Im 10 miles away from my access point, Stop telling me!!

Anyone know where this patch can be found? I ment to bookmark the page, as I found it on a University machine, not one of myown, but didnt :(

Cheers.

Interesting Never had the problem before even if I have mapped drives for work and take my laptop home I never get that nag screen.

I'm using Xp Pro with all the current patches. I definitely don't ever remember turning anything on or off for that nag. Also other users I've set up here and none of them get that nag.

DId you try right clicking on the icon when it pops up and see if there is anything in there you can do?

I am also running XP Pro with all updates, and Its bugging me about it. There isnt nethig on the bubble the lets you open any setting and so on.

I know I saw a patch for it somewhere, one some website, but i cant find it now... Argh!!

When i open Windoze Explorer on the lappy, the mapped drive has a red cross on it, suggesting that its not connected, but double clicking it opens it as normal, and it works exactly as it should.

As I say, it works fine, but id rather it didnt bother me each time....

You can disable balloon tips with TweakUI. Not sure if there is anything else you can do.

At least that gets rid of the message and that stupid pop noise.
