Hello? Internet?

Someone please help me im about to lost my mind. I was up last night surfing the net and everything was working great. I didnt download anything to keep that in mind. Anyway this morning i lost my internet connection. First response was to check the network connections in the control panel. So i do that and there is nothing in the folder. All my icons that told me if i was receiving or sending packets was gone.

I asked friends and they suggested a few things, im not going to go into detail. Point is, i reinstalled windows xp pro and i still cant get my internet to work.

Im trying to connect through my Asus mobo KT400 and what not. I tried installing the 4 in 1 drivers and that didn work, so im going nuts. Someone please help me.

To get some background info and from what it sounds like, you're using broadband internet and you're behind a router? (eg - some other device is sharing the internet for you)

If I am correct, then try right-clicking MY COMPUTER, select PROPERTIES, select HARDWARE tab, then click on DEVICE MANAGER button in the middle of that screen. Scroll down to NETWORK ADAPTERS and expand it. Is anything listed in there? Any exclamation marks next to devices?

Can't really say much more unless I get a general idea of how your network is set up.

Yes im using broadband and im using a Linksys router. I have another computer (macintosh) that is receiving data, but i am not.

I have ventured to the device manager and i did/do see many question marks. I think some had '!'

Sounds like corrupted drivers, no mobo drivers, or hardware failure.

Still no idea what connection you have.. "broadband" covers a lot of ground...

Network card issue. uninstall and reinstall then shut everything down (even router and dsl/cable modem) and restart.
