Hmm. just a simple question above. It was around windows 95 to windows 98 transition, correct? Opinions on 64 bit life as well please. Are there any other BIG upgrades coming in the somewhat near future, of any sort in PC's?
Let's see, uhhh, I remember studying this for the A+ Cert exam... ehhhh, oh yea! 32-bit has been around since the Intel 386 DX (16-33MHz). This came out around 1985, so as you can see, it's been around for a very long time.
The transition from Win95 -> Win98 isn't really dependent on how many bits the CPU has. Both OS's relied heavily on 16-bit code.
I don't forsee a transition to 64-bit completely until prolly two - three years. 128-bit is way down the road. Probably another 13-18 years.

Ya really think that long? That is a hell of a long time for the computer industry... 2 years ago a 500 mhz cpu cut the mustard, now we are over 3000 mhz.... you really think it will be around 15 years till we see the first 128 bit systems?
I believe that we will see 128-bit processing sooner but it may take idiots like MS 15 years to design an OS that will actually boot it let alone software to run on it!
Well wasn't windows 95 the first MS os that supported 32 bit? that 1985 thing seems awkward, of course I know nothing about computers that old to begin with.
