Hey, when I enter either win 2K or XP theres this problem that REALLY annoys me! The mouse seems to not respond when I click on things sometimes, and a lot, a lot of times it won't respond even with 8 or 9 mouse clicks! This happens on anything everywhere including games, start menu, windows, etc.

It is not the mouse(mice)!

I thought it was memory at first sense I have 3 sticks of 256 mb 133 ram, the computer came with 1 stick 64 mb 100 ram. Memory bought almost a year ago on rebate, worked fine with one additional stick, so got two more, put 2 256's in (with 64) worked even better, then I took 64 out and put all 3 256's in, seemed to have similar problem, but not sure sense it was so long ago, decided to put the 64 back in, and it with 576 mb total. Something about having that original stick in it kept the peace between the "possible" incompatability of ram speed. This was also on the os the crappy compaq came with, Windows ME. Sense then I obviously have 2k and xp and thought I would give it a shot with all 3 sticks. Note that the problem occured when I did an XP upgrade to me and hadn't changed ram. Sense upgrade I reinstalled it because of this problem (adding 2k to the mix). I thought that would solve the problem, no luck. Different mice, no luck. Putting in all 3 256mb keeps same problem. 1 64mb and 2 256 keep this problem, and even just the 64 mb alone keeps the problem now. This is a problem in BOTH 2K and XP.

Any ideas, the computer simply isn't responding to a lot of actions I take with the mouse, but it does move perfectly fine, it's just the clicking/selecting that is either often times slow or un responsive.

    Go into control panel>Mouse

There you'll see some settings. Just play around with them or swap the mouse. Even tho there's nothing wrong with the mouse, it might not play well with that particular board.

like I said, it is not the mouse, I have tested 3 different ones, + one more of the same, no luck. One of these includes the mouse that came with the computer and never had a problem. Mouse properties don't help either.

Guess then the mobo's fuxxords. I would strip it, save the useful parts and deep 6 the mobo. You might find a replacement mobo on ebay for cheap.

Importantly, what kind of mice are these? USB or PS2? Or dare I even ask, serial?
