So, i dont know if its considered disrespectful or something to the software community to, well, NOT recommend some software, but i am gonna go ahead and do it anyway. like, seriously, that program totally jacked up my computer. i dont really know what i was doing trying to install this crap anyway, but i just have to say, that it sucks, and steer clear of it.

anyway, did anyone else have similar experiences, where like, themes didnt work right, and your taks bar and stuff was all black and un-navigable. man, i was seriously about to flip out.

phew, ok, rant over . . .

    Not disrespectful at all....

But on that note, personally I don't run any of that shit I keep my machine as lean and mean as possible. I have all the extra XP effects crapped turned off and all the theme stuff is dissabled. Even the effects that make all the bars look rounded are off . It's lean it's mean and it works all the time.

yeah, i try to do that too, but whenever i see a program come out that some people love, i always want to give it the benefit of the doubt. thats how i stumbled upon DU Meter and WASTE and AB Commander. But then again, i guess no one uses those . . .

Have you not tried a hacked uxtheme.dll?
A simple dll hack is all you need to enable custom themes..

You can either go for a patcher or download a pre patched file and swap it over manually.

Its way better than using StyleXP and any performace impact would be negligible.

I tried skinning using StyleXP's corresponding program... naturally, that was "teh suck" too.

Always thought StyleXP's interface was a bit clumsy to begin with anyways.
