1) What is the fastest processor that can be used. Not planning to overclock, retail boxed HS/Fan ok?
2)What bios should I use?
3) I am going to put 2 sticks of 512mb ram on this board, what is the fastest that I can use? Please be specific, and should it be dual channel?
4) Any other recommendations?
This is what I have so far
Case with Antec True Power 550 P/S
NF7-S v2 motherboard unknown bios
2 WD IDE 80 GB 8mb cache, 7200 rpm HD's, might change to sata
Sound Blaster Live 5.1 X Gamer, is onboard better?
Sony DVD-RW 510-A
Creative Labs 16x DVD Rom
Radeon 128mb 9200 8X Vid Card
LS-120 floppy drive

I believe the NF7-s 2.0 can handle cpu's up to the XP3200. The retail hsf will do nicely.

The onboard sound ( Soundstorm) is excellent. Pretty much neck and neck with the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz.

Best ram for that board is the Corsair XMS Platinum series, not the black heatspreaders one.

You'll definately enjoy it. I had 3 of them and they're awsome boards!

This statement got me curious and I wrote to Corsair and they told me that there was no difference between the Platinum or Black heat spreader modules besides the color of the heat spreader.

I'd use the on board sound. It's as good if not better than the SB Live and less chance of conflicts. I have Corsair XMS Twin 512's 3200 in my N7-S v2, and they work great.

Hmmm kinda odd. I had 2 sticks of the black heatspreaders PC3200 C2 and it would not run it's rated speed. I could'nt believe the hassle i had to go thru to get an RMA. Finally get the rma, send the ram in and the replacements were even worse. To get the ram to run it's rated speed it cost me a total corruptrion of my os. To me corsair is garbage and i will never buy anything from them ever again. I suggested that ram because 1) It's fairly cheap and 2) it will run stock speed because they finally fixed the problem. Also I think Mr. "RamGuy" is a peckerhead.
