DDR400 with 333FSB CPU?

edited March 2004 in Hardware
Hi,

Sorry this may be a daft question but...

I plan to upgrade my mobo soon and was wondering if if is recommended/possible to run PC3200 memory at 400 but with a CPU (i.e. barton core 2600+ XP) runnng at 333FSB?

I was wondering if the mismatch in bus speed can cause issues, or is it best to run the memory at 333 or just buy PC2700 memory with such a CPU?

Many Thanks for your help.

I know on my board (NF7-Sv2.0), you can set the memory speed to be relative to the fsb, i.e. 5/6, so fsb would be 333, and memory 400.

Unless I'm missing something glaringly obvious that is...

Just trying adjusting the multiplier to make the 400 bus poissible without oc'ing ur chip....it wont hurt the chip at all and the nf-s mobo can handle it....if the cpu bus is 333 and the mem is 400 u dont get the full benifit of have 400 mhz memory

    Hi.
I have just tried adjusting fsb ration to 5/6, and when reboot i get checksum error. I have got 2x 512MB sticks of Corsair XMS 3200 cas2 installed in NF7-S v2.
