Which radiator/fan to buy for OC?

I know I will buy a new radiator/fan. But the more I research the more "no's" I get :)

The Zalman 7000 already is a no, I might have some problems fitting it on my mobo, I don't even want to risk (besides, its pricey - $50)

I've had a 1 day crush for the Coolermaster Jet 7, but when I looked at the price, some reviews - it didn't seem so *perfect* as in my first impression - it's still a choice though.
The Coolermaster Aero 7+ seemed to have gotten a lot of rewards, and the price is $25-30 - so it's not bad - might get it, but its looks are worst than the Jet 7.
I've heard the Coolermaster Jets/Aeros are silent and perform good because of the way they blow air - is that true? Though I've heard if you put them to high RPM, you can't hear yourself. True/false?

Also not sure about Thermaltake, heard all of those are very loud.

I'm looking for sumthin not too loud (some might say I have to get loud to OC, but I believe I can get something medium, when it comes to loudness).

I'm looking to OC a AMD Athlon XP 2000+ using Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste. Give me some suggestions on brands guys - ow and keep in mind I live in Europe so some products might be impossible to get.
The more and more I think, I might just get the Aero 7+ or Jet 7 which look and perform good - I'm just not sure if I should get the first or second, if it's worth paying the $20+ more for the Jet.
I'm open for suggestions of other brands though.

    nothing beats thermalright heatsinks!

anything from the AX-7 to the SLK900.

the newer heatsinks are even better.

the alx800 is very well priced
    http://www.thermalright.com/a_page/main_product_alx800.htm

and it performs better than anything out there, slap any 80mm fan on it and you are set.

    check them out.

Thanks Citrix, how loud are the thermalrights though? If I would attach a 80mm fan?

Ow ye the ALX is not compatible with my MSI kt3 ultra2 mobo, looking at the website compatibility list, at least it's not there, and the heatsink was not tested with my mobo. Anybody have an idea if it is compatible?

well, thermaltake makes some temp controlled smartfans.

heat goes up , fan speeds goes up etc..

i wouldnt go for that.. get a nice thermalright heatsink and look for some "PAPST" fans.

where do you plan on buying this? is it an online store, maybe i can pick out a fan for you.

thats fine, look around, there are many other AMD thermalright heatsinks,

any of those will beat the heck out of a thermaltake heatsink.

I usually hang out at an auction site http://www.allegro.pl looking for occasions to buy (not necessarily used, but mostly new stuff being sold at below shop prices) :)

Other than that I will most likely use an online shop to get a thermalright or thermaltake heatsink. If not I will most likely get the Coolermaster Aero 7+ due to its fine performance, looks, and price.

I found the SLK-800-U on the site. Don't know how pricey it is, but its compatible with my mobo's brother the MSI KT3 Ultra2-R (http://www.msicomputer.com/product/detail_spec/product_detail.asp?model=KT3_Ultra2-R), I use the MSI KT3 Ultra2 and they are the same, except 2 ATA133 RAID connectors and a fan on the VIA chipset (on the Ultra2-R mobo).

I like the look of it, and it's probably good, will try to find it on a site.

Do you think the Thermalright ALX-800 will fit the MSI KT3 Ultra2? I think I might buy it, if it would. No idea if it does.

What about the Thermaltake eXtreme Volcano 12 though? At low speed its not too loud and offers good cooling, offers very good cooling at a higher speed but high dB.

please im begging you, stay away from TT heatsinks,

if you want to overclock and have great temps, thermalright is the way..

look around on google for review, there is a HUGE diff.

Ok, I won't buy the Thermaltake or any other TT heatsink then.

But I'm still left with a dilemma, to be or not to be - ALX800 - already checked out a few reviews, only conclusion from them is it's good. No idea if it's compatible still though.

ya your right, you need to make sure the heatsink will fit without knocking any capacitors off :(

Nerf capacitors, can't they be flat or something - I'll try giving them a new short hair cut with my scissors.

Yes Nebulous, you have covered a specific fan I have asked about. Thanks for that - now this thread is more general, I'm still thinking what heatsink to buy for overclocking.

On another hand, I emailed Thermalright asking if the ALX-800 is compatible with my MSI KT3 Ultra2 mobo and the reply was:
    Dear KSM,
It is perfectly compatible with our ALX-800. Thank you for interesting in Thermalright products.
    Sincerely,

Great! I think I know what I will order now

I checked my email again - look at this
Yes, it will work on your motherboard.

    Subject: CNPS7000A-Cu compatible with MSI KT3 Ultra2?

    Hello,
I would like to know if the Zalman CNPS7000A-Cu
radiator/fan is compatible with the Microstar (MSI)
    KT3 Ultra2 (MS-6380E) motherboard. I did not find it
    on your website.

    Thanks in advance,

I cant say enough about my Aerocool Deep Impact DP-102. Right now I have my mobile 2500 over clocked to 2.3ghz and idle temps are low 30's. Highest I have over clocked it to was 2687. It ran for about 10 minutes but crashed durring 3dmarks 2003.

    heres a review

Heres a link to where to buy http://iocombo.com/shared/cache/dcee3455ab39b0e14ed4246884df4eec.html

I have no doubt these coolers will be the next standard.

Theres no doubt she is Huge. But it's the closet thing there is to water cooling in a heatsink and fan. I'll post a pic of it later.

I would write them and ask if it will fit your mobo before you buy lol.

Heheh, too late for me already got the Thermalrigt ALX-800 which performs great. I'm only thinking about *maybe* trying out a more powerful fan than my 2800 RPM Coolermaster.
