Alternative Command Prompt?

At school I am stuck using a Windows 98 computer for programming and I end up using the command prompt quite a bit. The 98 command prompt, IMHO, sucks. I was wondering if there is an alternative command prompt I could install for 98 that includes functions such as scrolling and command history (like bash for Linux.)

I never tried this, but hell it might just work...

This is my cmd app from XP. Just put it in your windows\system32 folder, use 'cmd' instead of command at the run prompt... ;)

Though I've never tried that I'm almost certain that won't work...course I've been proven wrong in the past.

However you could just put doskey into the autoexec.bat which will give you history scrolling though not screen scrolling.

Some links to different dos shells and apps for dos mostly menu type things but there is colordos which is kinda cool.

Two other programs though you legally have to pay for them as one is commercial and the other is time-trial shareware are:
NDos (made by Norton) - Commercial
    4Dos shareware version of NDos.

Both have increased functionality and scripting tools built into them.
