xp hanging

Hi,
I am running winxp on a P2 3xxMHz CPU with 256MB of RAM. If i were to open more than 1 application at the sametime my PC will hang! the applications running at the taskbar is norton antivirus and zonealarm.
why is this so?

    Was it running fine before? (able to open multiple apps).

    If so, sounds like your PC may be infected with a virus or spyware.

    Try running a virus scan with updated definitions, and afterwards run Ad-Aware (www.download.com has it).

    it was working fine. i think i may have disabled 1 of the services. do you have a list of services which can be disabled?

    But also check spy and adware it can cause bog also.
