ok for some reason i cannot access this computer (win xp sp1) on my other computers on the network. i can access the other compuers from this one fine, so i figured it was a firewall issue or something... the windows xp ICF is disabled, so it can't be that... i had NIS installed but i removed it awhile ago... i think it changed something? can someone help me? what do i do?

ok i figured out why it was doing this... the service "Server" was not running. i enabled it and everything works fine. but when i restart my comp, the service goes back to not running. its set to "automatic". how do i tell it to run at boot?

Hmmm that's odd it doesn't start up automatically. Are the permissions correct to run it (is it set to run with someone with admin privelages?).

One thing you can do is create a batch file and in it put: net start server

Then place it in your 'startup' folder.
