Windows boot logo slow with and fast without 2nd hd..

I have Windows XP Proffessional. I also happen to have 2 hard drives:
20 GB Quantum Fireball on which Windows XP Pro resides.
40 GB IBM is my file keeper.
When I disconnect the IBM, my WinXP loads ultra fast (the WinXP boot logo takes no more than 5-10 secs)
When the IBM is connected the WinXP boot logo takes 20+ seconds.
Both hard drives are on the same ATA100 cable, the QF is set for master with jumpers, the IBM is set for slave with jumpers, with one exception:
The IBM can be a 16 head slave, a 15 head slave, a 32GB clip slave, and an "auto spin disable" slave. I have no idea what these mean (currently I have 16 head slave, never tried the others). Before I reformatted my computer and did a clean reinstall of WinXP the hard drives were on the same IDE cable but booted fast.
Also before the reinstallation I switched around the IDE cables so that my 2 hard drives were now the Primary Master and Primary Slave, instead of being Secondary master and slave that they were before. Before, the primary master was my CD-ROM. I just decided it didn't sound right

Doing it this way allows you to utilize your IDE "bandwidth" to its fullest potential. Generally most people move info between HD to HD or between primary HD and CD drive.
Now of course nun of this answers your problem....... I think.
