WinXP Product Reactivation

edited February 2004 in Science & Tech
If I junk my old PC and install my old copy of XP on a new PC, do the M$ people give me a hard time on activation? Or do they just rationalise that it's been a while between activations so that's reasonable?

I guess the follow-on Q is just how frequently can one do this?

Anyone?

You shouldn't have any problems at all, I think it'll just activate fine. If it doesn't you'll have to call MS and it'll take you 5 mins or so to get it up and going.

I've been able to install an authentic XP on two different computers and they both work fine. I've done it with another license of XP as well, so I feel pretty comfortable at saying you'll be fine.

I think if their is more than 6 months between installs, they don't make an issue of it. Any closer than that, and they think your giving it out.
