Front Left speaker now often squeels when cd drive is active, any of 3 drives

My cd drives for some reason now make my front left speaker squeel. This happens usually when the drive is spinning above idle. Any drive makes this happen. I have tried switching speakers, but it is not the speaker, it is something else. I have an audigy 2 card with 6.1 speakers from Creative (6600, not digital) I am currently only running the front 3 speakers and the subwoofer due to set up in room so I do not know if the back speakers are a problem either. This squeel is quite loud and only happens when speakers are on, and is related to the volume control. The higher the volume the more squeel. The worst time is when a game is initiated, but it happens during the game and at other times as well. Any ideas? This is driving me crazy!:eek::mad:

The unused channels could be causing the interference.

maybe, I hooked the other 3 in and there is no more squeel (for the time being), however I do not remember exactly when the squeel stopped so can't be 100% sure.
