Fan Died On Abit NF-7S

edited March 2004 in Hardware
Hey guys, been awhile since I dabbled in these forums, yet alone building computers. But my motherboard fan on my NF-7S just died and now my mobo is beeping an almost ambulance siren beep noise.

I "think" it's the fan on the NOrthbridge (sorry I've been away so long I forget exactly what it's called lol). Just wondering if somoene could give me a link or a place to buy a replacement that will fit right.

Thanks guys.

Why don't you email Abit tech support and ask for a replacement?

Or you can get one of these here ;)

    Thanks Nebuluous for the reply.

Will that fan you linked fit perfectly ? I had a spare fan from my old Epox mobo I pulled off of the Northbridge but it didn't even come close to fitting right. Just want to make sure the one you linked will fit the NF-7S.

I could email ABIT, but I can't track down my exact details on purchase date, I know it was less than a year ago but I"m sure they will want some sort of receipt copy to prove it is still under warranty. I might give it a shot though. Thanks again.

Don't mean to be answering for Nebulous but,

That fan will fit perfectly. Running one now on my NF7-S and KD7.

Email Abit tech support and ask for a replacement. I doesn't hurt to ask, however, they will likely refer you to here...

I had the fan on my Ti4200 die, Abit basically said they would not replace the fan unless I returned the whole card. Factoring in shipping cost and time, I opted to spend a little bit more and buy a suitable replacement locally.

To the contrary, MSI happily shipped a FREE replacement chipset fan within a few hours of me contacting them.

I'd get a Zalman northbridge heatsink. They're big-ass heatsinks that don't require a fan

i would recommend a heatsink as well, it's so much better than replacing those MB fans every year :D i just replaced mine and it's so much better, and quieter and it even brought the temp down as well :)

Yeah, but sometimes if you attach a large heatsink on the NB, you'll have trouble with the cpu cooler if you want to swap it out. Tho it has it's plus and minuses, i never had a NB fan go dead on me except the older ones.
