determine CPU MHZ????

Is thewre a way thru windows or DOS prompt to find out what MHZ a computer has. i know the one I'm working on is a K6 but not the mhz

    Right click My Computer > Properties > General.

    Thats in 2k and XP for sure, not sure how far back that is available in terms of OS's, think it works in 98.
    If its a K6-2 then I dont think it will be any faster than a 550, think thats about as far as they went(?).

    I did find out this way,
    Start-programs-accesseries-system tools-system information-TOOLS-windows-windows report tool-options-collected information AND BINGO

    I did do this with Win2k pro..........but I needed it for a WinME system which had the same steps up to the "windows report tool" step.

    You can use CPUZ... Really great program for when you need to know all about your memory/cpu/motherboard.
