Can't seem to keep the temps down

edited May 2004 in Hardware
Hopefully someone will be able to give me some suggestions.

I just build a system this week, and I can't seem to keep the temps down.

Its a Soyo K7VMP2 mobo, Athlon XP 2800, in an Antec SLK3700AMB case. I have 2x120mm fans in there. CPU temps seem to be fine (30C), but the mainboard temp is in the moderate high end at 43C (according to HWMonitor).

What should I do to keep it down? Add more fans?

Thanks for your help in advance!

    43C mainboard temp? Where is the sensor for that located? I'd try opening the case up and seeing what the temperature drops to. I've never seen mainboard temps higher than CPU temps.

    Maybe try flashing Your BIOS (updating it to newest). It might have some recalibrations for temperature sensors. I know when I flashed mine temperatures dropped by 3-5C on an average.

    Also, maybe somehow the temperatures are getting switched around, the 43C is the CPU and 30C is the mainboard. Now that would be more likely.
    Did You measure the temperature from Windows? Maybe try checking them from BIOS? Try using a different program to measure them?

    I'm going to have to say that I'm seeing the same thing. ACcording to hmonitor my mainboard wont drop below 74 while it says cpu1 is around 27 and cpy2 keeps fluxuating. I don't know why it has 2 cpus... but Motherboard Monitor it says that my case temp is the one that's jumping around while it says that my cpu is stuck around 74. I'm using a Soyo P4I865PE Plus Dragon 2. I can't figure out what else I can do to make the temp go down... any help other than updating BIOS... I still have yet to do that...

    ok... i just found a hardware monitor on Soyousa.com... here's what it says... obviously I should trust this one since it is made exactly for my motherboard right?

    CHA = 27 degrees Celcius 80F
    What is this one? The Chassis? lol

    CPU = 44 degrees Celcius 111F

    Those sound like good temps?
