ATI All In Wonder 9800 Pro: TV Tuner problem
Hi people.
I have just bought myself the HIS All In Wonder 9800 Pro graphics card. The card seems to be working OK as 2D graphics and 3D games display correct. However, the TV Tuner seems to be not working. I am using a fresh install of Windows XP Pro and have followed installation instructions from ATI. My software install in following order:
1) Windows XP Pro silpstreamed to SP1
2) NVidia nForce v3.13 (mobo/NIC/onboard audio) driver
REBOOTED
3) DirectX v9.0b
REBOOTED
4) Maxtor Big Drive enabler
REBOOTED
5) ATI: Catalyst v4.2 graphics driver
REBOOTED
6) Windows Media Encoder 9.0
REBOOTED
7) ATI: DAO / MDAC
REBOOTED
8) ATI: DVD Decoder
REBOOTED
9) ATI: Multimedia Center v8.9
REBOOTED
Then I lauched the TV app in the Multimedia Centre, clicked agree on licence agreement. Then proceeded to 'Video-IN' initialisation wizard. Went through all the steps until the end then main program window came up with controls. BUT - NO TV capability. Whats going on? I have tried fresh format of Windows 2000 and XP, then apps installed as above but stil I get no TV. One time I did get TV recognition as when running the TV app for 1st time it popped up with the 'TV' wizard instead of 'Video-IN', but I got as far as select cable/region and the drop down box was empty, so cannot select anything nor proceed with steps! The card has RF aerial socket on back with aerial plugged in. Both the input and output sockets in the card is filled with bundled in/out accesories. Tried using the install CD that came with card for software - older versions, but still not solved TV problem.
This problem is really irratating as one of my reasons was to watch TV and capture video with this card. I have not tried capuring video yet so not 100% that this is working. Games wise the card is much better than the GeForce 4 Ti 4400 I had before. I have looked in the FAQ section on ATI site, but no help as most of the answers were reinstall drivers which I have done many times, and still my problem persists. I have checked Device Manager and no problems reported.
Anyone any ideas on how to get TV working? Is there a known problem between ATI cards and mobos based on NVidia nForce2 chipset? ATI software driver says AGP card is running at 8x with Fast Writes ON.
Thanks in advance.
